Although not all of these concerns are preventable, there are some remedies to help decrease and combat them. In fact, looking for the right solutions can help improve your hair and skin over time.
To help identify these beauty-product remedies, New York City-based dermatologist Dr. Shereene Idriss shared with TODAY a few of her favorite products for treating some of the most common beauty concerns. A hair serum for improving density in thinning hair and an eye cream formulated with retinol are just some of the beauty finds the board-certified dermatologist recommends.

Crepey skin
Crepey skin is thinning skin that is a combination of “collagen and elastin loss [that is] often exacerbated by sun exposure and dehydration,” says Dr. Idriss. She adds that crepey skin is more widespread that wrinkles and requires more than just continuous moisture to treat.

Hair thinning
Although hair loss is normal (we lose about 100 to 150 hairs a day), excess hair loss can be a result of abnormalities, a change hormones, age and more. You might experience "thinner strands, increased shedding and reduced density," as a results of it, which "can make the scalp more visible over time," explains Dr. Idriss.
Rogaine Men’s Hair Treatment Solution
This tried-and-true treatment has made it easier to regrow hair without the need of a prescription. Minoxidil, a clinically proven solution for hair growth, makes up 5% of the formula to treat thinning hair. "Minoxidil basically works by increasing blood flow to your hair follicles, keeping them in the growth phase longer and potentially reactivating dormant ones," notes Dr. Idriss.
To continue seeing results, you must use the treatment often or you might notice a decrease in progress. Results take about three to six months, which this trio pack should last you for.
Dove Scalp + Hair Therapy Density Boost Serum
According to the Dove, you should see fuller and thicker strands within 90 days of consistence use. We could contribute these results to its vitamin- and peptide-pack formula, which can help hair density and follicle health.
Flaky lips
We've all experienced flaky lips a few times in our life. Flakey lips are often "caused by dehydration, harsh weather or frequent lip licking, leading to a compromised moisture barrier," explains Dr. Idriss. "Dead skin buildup can make lips feel rough and sensitive, often worsening with lip products," but the right solution can help treat, and even provide an anti-aging perk.
